Thinking out loud: the Impressionists, ballet, snow days and a poem

Dear reader,

150 years ago, a group of artists challenged the art establishment and held the first impressionist art exhibition. It is thrilling to think that they were ridiculed for this brave new approach to art, which we today see as one of the most influential movements in art. If you have some leisure time during the weekend, I recommend watching Paris 1874: Impressionismens födelse on SVT.

I'm not a big fan of glitter since it's usually made of microplastics that end up in our oceans. However, I like sparkly things, especially during the dark winter months. So, a great way to add some sparkly bits is to go to your nearest second-hand and find some nickel-silver pieces. It is usually quite cheap because, unlike the name suggests, it doesn't actually contain any silver but is an alloy made of copper, zinc and nickel.

I went to my first ballet in my adult years. M and I went to see The Nutcracker two days before Christmas. It was performed by Classical Ukrainian Etoile Ballet and presented by an organisation that supports Ukrainian ballet since they can't perform in their home country.

We were blessed with a few glorious days of snow. I love snow. I love how it muffles sound and covers the grey city streets.
