DIY Christmas Stocking

I feel like this blog seems to be dedicate to the Christmas stockings I’ve been sewing since this will be my third post concerning the matter. I guess I’m just very proud of myself in learning a new skill.

For this you need some fabric, thread, a template and a sewing machine.

  1. Cut out the parts for the stocking with 1 cm seam allowance: two parts fabric, two parts lining fabric.

  2. Lay the fabric parts right sides together with the liner on the outside. Sew them together around the edge with 1 cm seam allowance. Leave the shaft open. Turn the sock right.

  3. Lay the lining fabric straight against straight. Sew around in the same way (with the shaft open) but also leave an opening in the bottom so that it can be turned later. Thread the lining over the sock so that the outer fabric and the lining will have the right sides together. Sew around the edge with 1 cm seam allowance. Turn the entire sock over, sew the opening in the bottom again and put the lining in the sock. Press the edge with an iron and sew a knitting around the edge opening. Fold down the edge (approx. 10 cm) so that the lining is visible.
