Thinking out loud: Apocalypse, English homes, and running
Dear reader,
I finally feel like hibernation is over and it is time to sit outside and see what's happening out in the world.
When I first heard about the exhibition Apokalypsen (the Apocalypse) at Göteborgs Konstmuseum I was sceptic. I do not need to see more ways the world is ending now. But then I learned that it is more an exhibition of Aplocalyses through the ages and I realised that people in all times believed that the world was ending. Strangely, I found some comfort in that but mostly the notion that we have survived catastrophes.
I love watching home tours in quirky English homes. Even though it's quite far from my interior style. The episode from House and Garden with Ben Pentreath is a real treat.
I love to read and lately, I’ve rediscovered the digital library for audio- and e-books. I understand that some people don’t like to read on a screen, I too find that nothing trumps the feeling of a physical book, but the time saved on not needing to go to the library to retrieve and bring back a book is unmatched.
The Fashion Neurosis episode with Jonathan Anderson has been out for some time but I only listened to it last week. I loved listening to how Anderson talks about growing up in Northern Ireland during very turbulent times, his views on art and the importance of having people around who challenge you.
I’m training for my first half-marathon so needless to say I’m hooked on running right now. Last Saturday I ran farther than I’ve ever had and that feeling that my body could keep going was incredible. Maybe running isn’t your thing but I would like to challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and do something that scares you. You’ll be surprised just how far your body can go.
