Autumn’s ABC...

Dear reader,

I received the newsletter from Carolina Storm [Storm Journal], where she bid farewell to August and welcomed September and autumn with an ABC of things she is looking forward to during this season. I thought it was a fantastic idea so here comes my ABC for autumn. Buckle up, it's a long one.

A- a new coat. I'm looking for a new coat this season. I'm very particular and want it to last me for a long time to come. I'm leaning towards a navy one but is black the safer option?

B- book with capital B. I'm beyond excited for Sally Rooney's new book release. I read her latest book Beautiful World Where Are You so fast I almost felt guilty considering how much time it must have taken her to write it.

C- Copenhagen. My cousin has moved to Copenhagen to study which gives me even more reasons to cross the Öresund this autumn.

D- Dior. I'm bringing out my favourite red lipstick from Dior.

E- early morning at a café. Romanticizing one's life is very trendy and when my friend and I discussed what the ultimate work morning would look like we decided on breakfast at a café before work.

F- foreign country. My dad and I don't meet as often since we live in different countries so last year we decided to book an autumn trip somewhere together.

G- going offline. I hope that when I look back on my life I find that I didn't spend most of my youth glued to a screen.

H- Hobbies. I listened to the Yada Yada podcast and one episode was dedicated to hobbies which made me so inspired to take up something just for fun without having to show it to anyone.

I- it's giving English country side. I'm an anglophile and this becomes especially evident during autumn. I dream of going out in the woods with a Barbour jacket, wellies and a dachshund.

J- journaling. With more time spent at home, I hope to be more consistent with journaling.

K- knits. I mean it goes without saying. I'm keen on adding a beautiful cashmere knit from Asket [The Cashmere Sweater] to my wardrobe.

L- lighting candles. I'm looking forward to bringing out my favourite scented candle, [The artist] from Tell me more.

M- meet up for dinners. During this wedding year, I've spent so much time with loved ones for my bachelorette party, shoe shopping and toastmaster syncs. So now that M and I are wed we need to find new opportunities to hang out with our friends. And everyone needs to eat.

N- night at the opera. M and I got a gift card to the opera from his parents last Christmas. There is no better time for opera than during dark evenings during autumn

O- outings. My favourite thing during autumn is to pack a thermos of coffee and bring some baked goods to the forest.

P- peppermint tea. Nothing says autumn quite as much as a steaming cup of peppermint tea.

Q- quality jewellery. I find it so difficult to shop for jewellery because the industry seems even less ethical than the clothing industry. So I haven't shopped quality jewellery and that is starting to show. So, I will dedicate some time to research this area and find some good and ethical jewellery brands.

R- routine. I fell off my routine when work started so I'm committed to creating habits around workouts, cleaning and hair wash day.

S- slow watching. When Netflix released the new season of Emily in Paris I decided to watch one episode per week instead of binging it all at once. Very nostalgic and I even got my husband to join me.

T- tennis. My childhood sport. A colleague got me to dust off my old racquet and that woke my old love for the sport so now I'm all hooked again.

U- unbothered. This will be my word for the autumn. I don't want to overthink or complicate things so much.

V- Vogue Scandinavia. Even since I was little I've loved a shiny magazine so when Vogue Scandinavia launched focusing on the Nordic countries I was beyond excited. I see myself sipping red wine and snuggling up on the couch with the September issue.

W- wishlist. The wishlist that I keep for things I want needs an audit. During summer I've added a lot of items to it hence I need to go through it and ask myself if I want all these things.

X- x. While I think that routine is important I hope I dare to say yes to new adventures.

Y- yoga. I found a new yoga class that I enjoyed so I hope to make Sunday evening yoga a reoccurring event during autumn.

Z- zone. I hope to stay focused on whatever I doing, will it be work or a hobby. My brain was not built for multitasking and doing one thing at a time will be more efficient in the long run.
