Spring Clean and All Purpose Cleaner

It is that time of the year when the light starts seeping through our windows in the early hours and I get the urge to do a spring clean. We all have very different homes and lives so I will just explain how I plan to clean this spring.

What I mean by spring cleaning is to focus on areas that don’t get cleaned that often for example in our case behind the oven. I also pin point places that need decluttering for example my wardrobe or cupboards in the kitchen. I usually plan to take one room at the time but leave the regular weekly cleaning till the end.

So, in short what i prioritise when spring cleaning

  • Areas that don’t get cleaned a lot, eg. windows, throw pillows, behind oven

  • Decluttering, eg. wardrobe, cupboards, storage units

  • After that I like to go around in the apartment a with a basket or tote bag and collect all the visual clutter that annoys me and then make sure that the items I’ve collected go somewhere else

  • Fixing small things that haven’t been fixed. I’m looking at you curtain rod

  • Air out all spaces

  • Celebrate with an espresso tonic on the balcony

Here is a  recipe for an all purpose cleaner which I use to wipe any surface that needs it. I don’t use this especially for spring cleaning but on tough stains. Otherwise I find that just wiping surfaces with water goes a long way.

All purpose cleaner

  • 1 ½ dl water

  • 1 ½ dl distilled white vinegar

  • 12-14 drops of essential oil (optional)

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and give it a swirl
