Thinking out loud: reading injuries, Edinburgh and Christmas decoration

Dear reader,

Christmas is approaching, how are you feeling? I'm feeling a lot calmer than I have been in previous years. Have I grown up and realised that the expectations of others are no concern of mine? One can hope.

Last weekend, I read for so long that I think I overstrained my arm. It makes me laugh. While the youth is suffering from texting thumb, I'm here, not even thirty, straining my arm from reading. So, I am writing to you with some discomfort about the things on my mind lately.

My dad and I went to Edinburgh for three nights and I fell in love with the city. As Charlotte Brontë is believed to have said: Who indeed has once seen Edinburgh, but must see it again in dreams waking or sleeping.

In Edinburgh, my dad and I visited the National Gallery of Scotland. They had an exhibition with Scottish artists and I was very taken by The Hunt by Robert Burns. I had to go back and look at it again before leaving the museum.

M and I bought a big bag-in-box of apple cider from our local bakery. On the long dark evenings, we heat it with some cinnamon and enjoy a cup snuggled up together.

Every year NK, a big department store decorates their storefront for Christmas. It is usually filled with magic and stories, and maybe more aimed toward children, but M and I look at it every year when night has fallen.
