Care for your swimwear
Summer is here and swimwear is going warm. Here are some tips on how to best care for them to make them last.
Rinse your swimwear after use. Saltwater or chemicals from pools can harm the fabric so make sure to give it some extra care after using it and it will last you many seasons.
Leave your swimwear to dry in the shade. The sun’s UV rays are very strong and can bleach the colour of your swimwear if they are left there for too long. This actually goes for all clothing, which is why the sun can actually be a great stain remover.
As with all clothing, wash your swimwear rarely and with care. Hand wash is preferable but sometimes I machine wash them. Then I make sure to use a cool temperature and a wash bag to be extra careful. Do not tumble dry or iron your swimwear.
I’m guilty of this but try to not swing your swimwear to get the water out of them as this may make them loose their shape.
Be a bit careful when you’re sun bathing on the cliffs. Rough surfaces can damage your swimwear, better to sit on a cotton towel.
Don’t leave your wet swimwear squished in a moist towel. As soon as you get home from the beach take it out and leave it to flat dry (in the shade, but we’ve been through this).
Sun screen is important but it could also stain your swimwear so be extra careful and try to use sunscreen without colourants or scent to be extra nice to the ocean as well.
Happy summer!
