Five tips on how to create a more sustainable wardrobe
Quite recently a group of researchers came up with a couple of guidelines on how to live more sustainably, or at least less unsustainably. One of the point was that we need to buy less new things and to buy a maximum of three new garments a year. Despite limiting our shopping, I think we really need to look at the behaviour of shopping as well and I hope these tips will inspire some change in your life.
Buy less and try to find other activities than shopping.
When you need something new: shop second hand in first hand
Don’t buy in to every new trend. Trends come and go. Try to find a style you like and and only buy clothes you will love
Invest in items that are high quality and will last you long. Preferably made under sustainable and ethical conditions.
Take care of your clothes. Don’t wash them too often, check the care label and if something breaks try to mend it instead of throwing it away.
